Psychotherapy in Toronto: Julia Gotz

Julia Gotz, M.Ed. Psychotherapist

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

I hold a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology from University of Toronto.  I completed an Hon. B.A. in the Humanities and Psychoanalytic Thought Program at the University of Toronto, specializing in Literature and Psychoanalysis.

My commitment to study and training has continued throughout my career.

I am a graduate of the Gestalt Institute of Toronto, and my Gestalt training has led me to a greater emphasis on the here and now in the therapeutic process.  In the past fifteen years, I have done workshops or training in feminist approaches to psychotherapy, Relational Psychotherapy, Playback Theatre, Psychodrama, Authentic Movement and Sensory Awareness.  Before begining my private practice in 1994, I worked for ten years in the field of children's mental health, doing play therapy and expressive arts therapy.  During that time, I completed two years of training in Jungian sandplay therapy. In the early years of my practice, I sought expert individual and group supervision from leaders in Toronto's psychotherapy community.  I currently participate in peer supervision.  I have a lifelong interest in expressive arts including drawing, painting, photography, movement and theatre arts.

Currently, I am the organizer summer retreat on Sensory Awareness, a mindfulness-based practice, which will be led by Lee Klinger Lesser.  If you are considering a meditative practice to address anxiety, chronic pain, or stress, please visit
